MonitoringProRemote boiler-room monitoring

The boiler room reports itself — by SMS, every few hours, for three years

In production since 2023

Remote boiler-room monitoring built as a product — with its own brand, its own subscription and customers who pay for it monthly.

A month of readings. Green means within limits, red means outside — and the dot beside each date says whether anyone wrote a log entry that day.

Starting point

A paper log cannot tell you anything in advance.

The attendant walked the round and wrote the readings onto a ruled sheet. The law requires such a log, but paper does not look at what you write on it: a value outside its limit looks exactly like one inside it.

By the time anyone noticed, it was the next round — or the moment something stopped heating. And a round nobody walked leaves no trace on paper, just an empty line no one looks at.

What we built

The unit sends the readings itself, and the system watches them.

A GSM unit texts in its readings on a set period — anywhere from once a day to every half hour. The server parses the message, stores it, and checks every quantity against its upper and lower bound.

When a value falls outside, an SMS and an e-mail go to whoever has each channel switched on, and a second message follows when the value comes back. Quiet hours are set per weekday and per quantity, so an alarm at three in the morning has a reason.

The log stayed a log: the attendant writes notes and signs them with a finger on a tablet, and the month closes with three PDFs that replace the paper sheet outright.

Outcome

Three and a half years in service, sold as a subscription.

The system has run since 2023 and HEATING PRO sells it under its own brand on a monthly plan. It is not one company's internal tool but a product with customers of its own.

Efficiency calculation from monthly meter readings, reminders for readings nobody filed, and remote control of the unit came later — period, limits and reset are all set from the browser.

Key modules

Intake over GSM

The unit texts in, the server parses and stores it. No polling, no fixed line.

Limits and alarms

Every quantity has an upper and lower bound. A breach goes out by SMS and e-mail.

Quiet hours

Alarms can be silenced per weekday and per individual quantity.

Electronic log

Operator notes signed with a finger on a tablet. The paper sheet is gone.

Boiler efficiency

From monthly meter readings and the gas calorific value. Below seventy percent turns red.

Remote control

Period, limits, an on-demand reading and reset — the command goes out to the unit by SMS.

Before and after

On the left, the sheet the readings were written onto by hand. On the right, the same readings once the system asks for them itself and colours in what is out of range.
