Google Merchant Center
Product data for Google Shopping
Google Merchant Center is the tool through which a shop submits its product data. Google turns it into listings for Shopping and product ads. Without an approved feed there, campaigns that display a specific item with a price and picture have nothing to show.
Why it is a separate tool
An ads account knows how much you want to spend and whom to target. It does not know what you sell. Merchant Center is that other half: a catalogue of prices, availability, images, and identifiers, kept current from a product feed.
The split has a practical consequence. Most problems with product ads are not in the campaign but in the data — a product is disapproved, the feed price disagrees with the site, or an identifier is missing. No amount of campaign tuning helps until the feed is fixed.
What usually blocks approval
Google compares the feed against what is actually on the product page and treats a mismatch as an error. That is good news: it means the problem can be removed once and for good by fixing the data, rather than by resubmitting for review.
- A feed price different from the page price, typically around discounts or VAT.
- Availability refreshed too rarely, advertising stock that no longer exists.
- A missing GTIN or EAN on branded goods that should carry one.
- Missing or unreachable terms, shipping, and returns information.
- Images with watermarks, text, or borders instead of the clean product.
How it fits with everything else
Merchant Center draws on the same data as comparison sites such as Heureka or Zboží.cz, only in a different structure. So it is sensible to keep one source of truth in the shop and generate a feed per channel, rather than maintaining several manual exports.
Feed quality is marketing work, not a technical formality. Sharper titles, filled-in parameters, and better images improve results as reliably as raising the budget. Campaign setup and management sit with Google advertising; the data itself comes from a custom e-shop.

Do I need Merchant Center if I already have an ads account?
Yes, if you want product ads with an image and price. The ads account handles budget and targeting; Merchant Center handles product data. Without an approved feed those campaigns have nothing to display.
Why were my products disapproved?
Most often a mismatch between the feed and the product page — price or availability — or missing identifiers or policy pages. The fix is correcting the data in the shop, not repeatedly requesting review.
Can I reuse my Heureka feed?
Not directly; the structures differ. A feed for each channel can be generated from shared data, though, so the catalogue is still managed once.
